LIFE IS STRANGE | ...The Storm

So I vanished for a bit but that's nothing new.

What IS new is that dank hella woke swagalicious # yolo announcement of that new company, Deck Nine, taking on a three-episode "Life is Strange" prequel, dubbed "Life is Strange: Before the Storm".  It follows the story of Chloe as you forge her relationship with the mythical Rachel Amber character.  The dialogue in the preview seemed just as endearingly-angsty as in its predecessor, so I'm on board all the way.  I don't take the game super seriously, so I know that -- even if Deck Nine messes it up -- I'll still get engrossed in the world of Arcadia Bay, because my interest in "Life is Strange" has always been of a somewhat masochistic nature, which then translates to the sadistic nature reflected in my parodies.

In other words, I love "Life is Strange" because of its flaws, so Deck Nine can't fail me...

Like Telltale did...

Tom's usual demeanor melts away into a stare, blank and unresponsive, as if focused on one single, distant, traumatic moment in time.  His lip quivers slightly at a thought that emerges from his past like the Beast from the sea of the Christian apocalypse, or "InFamous 2".  He whispers something suddenly, but it's too quiet to hear, so as to avoid spoilers.  You try to shake him, to bring him back to the present, but his skin is cold to the touch, as though the thought that haunts him so vividly has an indisputable and insidious presence that may very well threaten life itself.  After the most tense twenty seconds of your mysterious encounter with Tom, he suddenly screams and smashes his head on a nearby wall, after which he moans and blinks and appears to be finally awake once more.  As he tries to laugh off the experience as some kind of joke, you notice the smallest patches of frost have crystallized on his skin, and his eyes carry a darkness that makes your insides crawl with a mixture of pity... and inexplicable terror.

IN OTHER NEWS:
Somebody told me that DONTNOD, in addition to developing their new "Vampyr" game, is also still developing an actual sequel to "Life is Strange", but I haven't confirmed that for myself.  Anyone know about that?

Also, Chloe's original voice actress, Ashly Burch, has been part of the "Before the Storm" project as a writer and a consultant on Chloe's personality, but announced on Twitter that she will unfortunately not be reprising her role as Chloe due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
